Hello dolls! I am baaaack! I know, I need to get on a schedule, but well…meh. Until then, I present you a new post on the Beauty Bakerie So Icy Illuminator. I was super lucky and had Beauty Bakerie send me the shade Iced complimentary for review, so you know I had to let you guys know all about it. I adore Beauty Bakerie makeup. Everything is super adorably packaged, the names are just too cute, and the whole brand overall is fantastic and promotes positivity. It can’t get any better than that! So let’s see this illuminator, right? Read on to see my thoughts!
Let me just start with the packaging. It is ADORABLE! It comes in a little mini ice cream pint container (not the size of an actual pint, more of a half size). Shake it up a bit, tap the lid to make sure any access powder attached to it falls off into the container, and pull the lid off. There is a cardboard sifter inside that allows product to come out at a moderate rate, so you don’t end up with too much loose illuminator on your hands. Whoever is in charge of the packaging design needs to win an award for this. It is so cute! My only slight complaint is that it is definitely not travel friendly, and I do not recommend you take this with you anywhere. The entire container is cardboard so it would get crushed/spill/waste product. But it looks ultra adorable displayed on your vanity! I have so many pressed highlights, I can always take one of those when travelling. (Side note: how amazing would a pressed illuminator be in a small waffle shell container?) The Beauty Bakerie So Icy Illuminator contains 13 grams of product, or 0.46 ounces. I haven’t yet finished mine, and I did not want to ruin my container by opening it up to see how deep the powder goes. I am happy with my adorable illuminator packaging and I’m sure 0.46 ounces is more than plenty for me.
As far as the actual product, I am speechless. It is a loose powder illuminator, which makes it perfect for mixing with other products, adding into liquids, etc. I love using loose powders at home, because I feel like I have more control over the product. There are 5 shades available in the Beauty Bakerie So Icy Illuminator. They cover a wide range of shades, so each skin tone will be able to find one that works. Iced is the lightest shade, so it seemed the most appropriate for my NC15 skin. It gives my skin a light beige glow, so it is different than most of my other highlights that tend to be more on the white, frosty side. The shade is light, but not so light that dark skin tones wouldn’t be able to use it. On anyone with dark complexions, this will probably give off an off-white, beigey pink glow.
The finish can be subtle or more intense, based on your preferred method of application. If applied dry, it will give your skin a lovely glow that glistens in the sun. It can be dusted across shoulders, collar bones, across lips, brows, or across lids. It would also be gorgeous mixed into body lotion and used on the legs/arms. If used over a cream base, the effect will be a bit more intensified. I like to use mine wet. I spray my brush with a setting spray, then dab it into the product and apply. Once the product is set and dry, I do lightly go over it with a dry brush and diffuse the edges slightly. This way I get a more intense glow as well as longer wear. I love to run it down the bridge of my nose, and across my cupid’s bow as well. They can also double as blush toppers.
I most definitely recommend picking up one of the Beauty Bakerie So Icy Illuminators. The color choices will suit everyone, and it’s definitely going to be a cute statement piece in your illuminator collection. They retail for $32 and are available for purchase HERE.
