I’ve long been a fan of the JSC Velour Liquid Lips, so I had to order some of the new cream lipsticks as soon as they launched. The Jeffree Star Lip Ammunition lipsticks are your easy, on the go lipsticks. They’re perfect for anyone who doesn’t love the feel of a liquid lipstick. I ordered four shades to start with, and I wanted to quickly review these for you. Read on for my review and to see swatches.
Jeffree released 10 shades of the Lip Ammunition upon this initial launch. One glitter finish and 9 satin cream formulas. They are housed in an eye-catching pink bullet…when I say bullet, I am referring to the private bedroom bullet variety 😉
What are the Lip Ammunition lipsticks?
Our stick lipstick formula has one swipe coverage and packs a punch! Satin (or glitter) finish. Extreme pigment. Smells like creamsicle ice cream. Can be used with any lip liner or worn by itself. This product is 100% vegan & cruelty-free!(tips before use: exfoliate with lip scrub then apply to bare lips!)
The shades launched are:
I picked up four shades like I previously mentioned. The shades I purchased are Beauty Pageant, Ex-Supermodel, Celebrity Skin, and Unicorn Blood. These seemed like the shades I would reach for the most. Well, three of them, and Beauty Pageant I was just curious about. So let’s get into it.
Beauty Pageant – I initially purchased this because I thought it would be great to use either in the center of the lid, or just to top off the whole lip over another lipstick. My plan failed. I fully expected this finish to be gritty, as Jeffree himself said that it was. However, it is relatively stiff, and you have to apply quite a bit of pressure to get it to go on the lip. I tried it over Ex-Supermodel, and it rubbed that lipstick off my lips. Ex-Supermodel came off my lips and ended up coating the outside of Beauty Pageant. This resulted in not much color left on my lips, and no glitter being applied because it was completely covered up on the lipstick by the rubbed off Ex-Supermodel. So that experiment was a fail. I did use it by itself, over just gently lined lips. The result was pretty, but still not as glittery as I expected. From afar, it just looked like 80’s frosted lipstick. It felt gritty, but I can live with it. I will wear this by itself. As the color wears off, you are left with a ton of silver glitter particles, which is kinda cool. I like the lipstick, I just can’t use it quite like I intended. Face swatch below.
Ex-Supermodel – this one is super pretty! On my NC15 skin, this leans more towards a neutral pink more than a nude pink. Definitely more pink. The color truly went on in one swipe. It gave full coverage, and went on smoothly without tugging. See the picture of me wearing it below.
Celebrity Skin – OMG! I love this color in this formula even more than I liked the liquid formula. It’s going to be my most reached for lipstick. It’s a gorgeous cool toned medium nude. It doesn’t wash me out, and it gives enough color that I can wear this with everything. It’s almost a taupe nude on me. I love it. I know the reviews have been mixed on this shade. Some people said that it felt grainy, like sandy grains inside the tube. For me, this has applied smoothly, without tugging, and I didn’t experience any grainy feeling. I wore mine to work for 8+ hours and I didn’t really need to reapply (unlike with those Nars Velvet Lip Glides in my last post). I will definitely order another one to have as a backup.
Unicorn Blood – now this is what I call drama! This has to be his best-selling shade ever in the liquid formula. It is dark and vampy, and perfect for fall and winter days, as well as really all year round. I do prefer a darker lip on myself. Maybe it’s just my over-all dark hair and midnight-black soul, but this color appeals to my inner Transylvanian vampire. It had flawless coverage again, like all the satin ones I tried. The color is a dark, vampire blood rusty red. He calls it unicorn blood, I call it vampire blood…you can tell which one of us is from Transylvania here. If you love dark, vampy lips, or just want to add some sexiness into your life, this color is a MUST-HAVE! There is no better dark rusty red color on the planet! Jeffree definitely nailed this one.
So there ya have it. My four Jeffree Star Lip Ammunition lipsticks and swatches. I like that they haven’t sold out on his website, unlike all his other products. I will definitely be ordering a couple more at least. I have my eye on Baby Spice and Grandaddy Purp next. The Lip Ammunition lipsticks retail for $18. They contain 0.12 ounces of product, and can be purchased through Jeffree Star Cosmetics HERE and Beautylish HERE.
